We’re a global campaign

At Unlipping PCOS, our mission is to break the silence surrounding polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and provide a platform for individuals to share their stories, access support, and gain essential knowledge. Founded by Anji Sandhu, who herself has navigated the challenges of PCOS, we are dedicated to raising awareness, fostering understanding, and building a community where no one feels isolated in their journey. Our initiatives, such as the PCOS Buddy app, PCOS TV, and collaborations with universities, aim to empower individuals with the tools and resources they need to manage their health, mental well-being, and overall lives. Through advocacy, education, and a commitment to inclusivity, we strive to create a world where PCOS is understood, openly discussed, and effectively managed, helping people live fuller, healthier lives.

Our Story

Carrie’s journey with PCOS began in her early twenties, right as she was pursuing her dream of joining the International Monetary Fund (IMF) after graduating from the London School of Economics. But things took a turn when she started experiencing debilitating symptoms like male-pattern hair growth and irregular cycles. The emotional toll of these changes left Carrie feeling confused, isolated, and marginalized by society. As her struggles intensified, she was ultimately sectioned.

After her release, Carrie reached out to Anji, who, recognizing the need for a tailored solution, developed a paper version of the PCOS Buddy app specifically for her. Carrie diligently used the app over the next three years while collaborating with her GP to manage her symptoms. In a life-changing moment, Carrie was informed that she had made a full recovery from her symptoms.

Inspired by Carrie’s story and the countless others affected by PCOS, Anji, as an LLM student, launched the campaign Unlipping PCOS: Let’s Talk About It. This initiative was created to give a voice to the experiences of Carrie and millions of other women, breaking the silence surrounding PCOS and raising awareness for the emotional and physical struggles faced by those living with the condition globally.

The team is lead by Anji Sandhu, an UK-based entrepreneur, who has been active in this area for a number of years.
